Giving back - Just Serve

Dear readers,

I have learned about this new site. It is called 'justserve.org.' Their website says:

"JustServe brings together people who need help with those who are willing to give help. By partnering with churches, civic organizations, non-profits and government agencies, JustServe links you to service opportunities in your community so you can make a difference wherever you are and however you want to do it. We rely on these organizations to ensure the quantity and quality of those service opportunities. Once we know what the needs are, we tell you about them here on JustServe or through Facebook and then you can go get the job done. We make it easy to sign up, show up, or clean up, all on your time and in your way."

I think it is brilliant.

It always feels better to help people.  Do you have any stories of helping people that made you feel better or been inspired?

I just found this on Justserve.org:

Volunteers work at Arvada Community Food Bank

05-02-2013

Eight 19-22 year old young men and women serve two to three hours a day Wednesday through Friday at the Arvada Community Food Bank as they assist in stocking, organizing, and unloading food stuffs.  These unpaid volunteers play an important role in the day to day operations of the Food Bank as it provides food to hundreds of people from Arvada each month.  Staff at the Food Bank say they have come to rely on these friendly, helpful volunteers in carrying out the mission of the organization.

It could be helping at a Food Bank, going to go see elderly at a nursing home, or just giving a hug to a friend in need. You can get your friends together or take a sibling to help another in need. If you need ideas on what to do, you can just go to justserve.org for service projects in your area.

Love,
Megan
